Pretty stoked to be able to go again this year. Last year was so fun and I can't wait to go back. Everybody we met last year was so hospitable and cool, it will be nice to hang out again. I can't thank Paulo enough for making it possible for me to be a part of it.

The Born Loser posted a pic of that famous green Knuckle the other day and made me think of my friend Davey. He shared with the world that and a series of other amazing old family photos of early San Bernardino club life, the bikes and the people that have inspired many of us in the blog-o-sphere. Just wanted to share again....

The terms "ruler" and "stand-up guy" get tossed around loosely these days. Both are phrases I rarely use because they really only apply to a small handful of people I know. I think Davey falls into that catergory. Humble and reserved he's just doing his thing. A regular guy supporting his family, and trying to be apart of this chomper epidemic when time and money permit.
Me and Nick cruised up to his house in Fontana to pick up a radiator for the Econoline and started talking about his family and looking through some of the countless photos from the late 50's through the 60's. Infamous photos you've seen on all the blogs of his grandma and grandpa, pops and uncles bikes. I was shaking holding those photos in my hands just knowing that right here in my hands is where it all began. Some of the pioneers of a lifestyle most of us strive to emulate (but never will) doing things for the first time just to see where they could take it. Some take all this too seriously, some take it for granted and some for the wrong reasons entirely but moments like this remind me of why I do it. I love the past, and love learning, not knowing. Once you know everything or have everything, then what? The future will come and when it does I probably won't be ready, but thats okay because i like surprises.

Davey, if there was a team, you'd be on it. Thanks for sharing the photos with me and I cant wait to meet your Grandma.

Pretty stoked to have my Knucklehead in the latest issue of Street Chopper. This mag has so much history so it's rad to be a part of it. The only thing I was worried about was that they might have to switch over to a larger format like the Japanese mags to fit me entirely on the cover, but to my surprise they managed to pull it off. This issues got alot of cool stuff like Jasin Phares Pan, Len Higa's Honda, Tyler Malinky's Shovel and a tech article on how to insanely paint a tank...keep an eye out at your local newsstand.

Our friend Sean Duggan runs what you might call a chopper orphanage, in that I mean he's kind of taken a bunch of LA chopper kids under his wing and gives them a place, tools and knowledge to work on their bikes. He's handsome, into cool shit and knows like 11 languages...total package. 

Well Sean and his friend Bill have been busy the last few months getting both of their 1928 Harley JD's in order to do the cross country Cannonball Run that starts friday in New York and ends a couple weeks later in San Francisco. Pretty stoked for him, sounds like its going to be a be an awesome time.

Yes...

I got my first board in 1993 for my 13th birthday, coincidentally the same year 411VM first came out. These videos were such a huge part of my life growing up and being that I lived in Orange County I was in the thick of all that was going on at the time, all those dudes, all those spots... I just remember being so stoked when that horn would play in the openers and me and my friends always pointing out our background props "oh, thats me right there next to the tree!"....some of the best times of my life.

Skateboarder Magazine is releasing all of the issues of 411 on their site starting with the first one and man, just watching it brought back so many memories, just heavy moments in life...making me "the person I am today" kind of moments. Everytime I see a video or here a song from somebodys part it takes me right back to where I was and what I was doing at the time and I'm thankful to have been able to experience and be apart of what I think was one of the rawest and realest times in skateboarding.

Looks like the atmosphere of the last 2 Born Free shows has rubbed off on Paulo and the boys so they have been looking into a really cool location for this years Two Wheels Brazil show.

If its anything like last year it should be pretty rad.
